Sony VAIO Bluetooth Wireless Mouse
This bluetooth mouse by Sony is actually designed specifically to match VAIO CS notebook computers, but it can be used with any bluetooth-capable PC. At first glance the shape of this device is a little funky, and it definitely looks different than all of the other mice reviewed here. They offer this model in three different colors to go seamlessly with their laptops: Glossy Black (VGP-BMS55/B), Sangria Red (VGP-BMS55/R) and Cosmopolitan Pink (VGP-BMS55/P). They also offer bundle packages that include a matching mouse pad if you need one, but the part numbers are slightly different. We wouldn’t really consider the shape of this mouse to be “ergonomic” in any way, but nonetheless it seems fairly comfortable for regular use. It uses laser technology for tracking which allows you to use the mouse on a larger variety of surfaces than an optical model, and also increases battery life (just by a little). It also has a low friction, non-stick PTFE sole that allows for effortless and extra smooth movement. This mouse runs on two AA batteries with an estimated battery life of approximately three months. The maximum operating distance is stated as 32 ft. which is fairly standard and the dimensions of this device are 2.3″ (width) x 4.8″ (height) x 1.4″ (depth). You’ll need Windows Vista or XP installed for this mouse to work properly with your computer. The retail price of this peripheral is $69.99 (and that’s what Sony sells it for on their website).

i have a bluetooth mouse i purchased with my notebook and it hesitates after only 6 months of service what could be the problem its a sony model vgpbms33
I too have problems with a Sony Bluetooth mouse (VGP-BMS55). Every now and then it simply stops working. I have to then delete it from my Bluetooth devices, and then reconnect it. It’s very annoying and makes me angry. When I pay £50 for a Bluetooth mouse, I expect it to work.
Mouse works flawlessly! No skips, silky smooth, sturdy quality case. Works with both a Vaio and HP Laptop.
I have the same VPCF115FM laptop. Think it is a FW problem. Can reinstall driver and it solves it without messing with the mouse. Also fixes after reboot of the PC. Help!
If you go to the taskbar clicking on the bottom right corner of your laptop and clicking on the little triangle (“show hidden icons”) it will appear in the small window a green icon with two confronted half arrows. Click on this VAIO Smart Network icon. Probably you will find that the Wi-Fi and the Bluetooth networks are switching on. At the bottom of this window there is a Settings bottom. If you click on it it will apear a bigger window named Wi-Fi Settings. There is a warning message saying “Simultaneous use of 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and BLUETOOTH functions may result in poor communications performance and a loss of Communications due to signal interference.”
On this site http://www.ehow.com/how_4866247_turn-bluetooth-sony-vaio.html I found a recomendation to
change the wireless LAN from 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz because, as the warning message say, using the 2.4 GHz wireless LAN and the Bluetooth device can make the connection unstable, but I had no option but 2.4 Ghz
So try this:
1) For sony vaio’s go to VAIO Smart Network turn Bluetooth Off wait for a minute then turn Bluetooth back On. Now rediscover your mouse and away you go.
Or,
2) if this dossen’t work uninstall the mouse driver going to Control Panel, System, Device Ganager (on the left) and clicking twice on the mouse icon on the list. Than Double click on PS/2 Compatible Mouse or HID- Compliant Mouse, driver, uninstall. Having done this the lap will reboot. Finally go to Device and printers and Add a Device. The system will reinstall the Default driver from Windows. It schould work.
Thanks Michael! Have switched to 5GHz, will see how it goes. I guess it’s just ‘too bad’ for those who don’t have a 5GHz router (5GHz usually only found in the dual-band routers)
Another thing I find really irksome about this problem is that is does not occur on Linux. My VPCF11S1E/B is dual-boot, I rarely boot into Windows. In fact, today was the first time I’ve fired up Windows in nearly 6 months. The moment I did, the bluetooth mouse lost connectivity within 30 minutes.
In Linux, the VGP-BMS55 never once lost connectivity, even with wireless set to 2.4GHz!! NOT ONCE!!!!!!!!
Less than 24 hours have passed. While my Sony VGP-BMS55 bluetooth mouse has not lost connectivity since changing then wifi to 5GHz, my network connection has dropped (the 5GHz radio is not longer found). I suspect a reset would probably solve things, but for now I’m using the 2.4GHz connection.
Again – I never had ANY of these problems using the exact same hardware with Ubuntu 10.10. I don’t know why it is Windows that has a reputation for ‘everything just working’ – what a load of…
